Platonic Solids were discovered as the 5 "perfect shapes". These shapes are examples of polyhedra, all of whose faces are congruent regular polygons and where the same number of faces meet at every vertex. The earliest description of them as a group is in Plato's Timaeus.
Included in this natural clear quartz set is one carved shape of each of the following Platonic Solids: Tetrahedron, Hexahedron, Octahedron, Icosahedron and Dodecahedron. All 5 of these sacred shapes are contained within Metatrons' Cube. All creations in our world can be traced to these shapes in one form of another.
Tetrahedron: The Tetrahedron has 4 faces, 6 edges and 4 vertices. This shape is associated with the element Fire. Plato made this association due to the penetrating acuteness of the edges and vertices in this shape.
Hexahedron (the Cube): The Hexahedron has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices. The cube has been assigned to the Earth element due to the stability of its base. In alignment with our experience of space, the cube faces forward, backwards, upwards, downwards, left and right which corresponds with our directions of North, South, East and West.
Octahedron: The Octahedron has 8 faces, 12 edges and 6 vertices. This shape is associated with the element Air. The Octahedron is found in naturally formed minerals such as Fluorite.
Icosahedron: The Icosahedron has 20 faces, 30 edges and 12 vertices. This shape is associated with the element Water.
Dodecahedron: The Dodecahedron has 12 faces, 30 edges and 20 vertices. This shape is compromised of 12 pentagonal faces. It was referred to as "The Sphere of Twelve Pentagons" by the early Pythagoreans. After observing, identifying and associating the other 4 solids with elements, Plato's Timaeus says "There remained a fifth construction which God used for embroidering the constellations on the whole heaven". Thus the Dodecahedron became associated with all Universe. The Dodecahedron is found in naturally formed minerals such as Iron Pyrite.
