Thank you for visiting! First, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the support Stone & Violet has received over the last few years! Whether you have been shopping with me for some time now, or are new to finding the shop, I am grateful for your visit and hope that you find a special handmade gift or earth-made treasure to welcome into your space.
Stone and Violet is run predominately by myself, Lauren, with the helping hands of my husband, daughter and son. What I offer is a meld of the creative work I have created for the past 16 years.
As the daughter of a carpenter, I have had a love of woodworking since I was a young girl and continued to take elective courses in woodworking through my school years. My passion for woodworking was reignited in 2010 when I found myself longing for a special and artistic way to display my crystals and other treasures. 2010, in my home woodshop, is where the beginnings of Stone & Violet Handmade began. In 2012, I designed two of my most popular designs to date, the Moon Phase shelf and the Mountain shelf. The Moon Phase shelf has been in handmade production here in Pennsylvania for 6 years now!
My love for crystals was a gift handed down to me by my mother and it just so turns out that I am now handing down that love to my own daughter! I have a few select and very special pieces in my own collection that once belonged to my mother and that have been with me since I was a child.
Crystals are an important part of my life and I am always happy to go out on the road looking for new pieces to offer in my shop. I take the utmost care in the selection of crystals that I choose to carry, and I travel regularly to be able to select pieces by hand and eye. I choose to carry in my shop only pieces that feel energetically well and positive.
On occasion, you will find select reproductions of my original art available in the shop. Art is a love that I discovered at a very young age. I began selling my original paintings and drawings both locally and internationally in 2002. My start was with drawing and painting and then eventually my love for wood came through and I worked for years in the medium of Pyrography.
I am grateful to have had my work featured in several prominent ways.
"The Climb" has been featured as the cover art of the Korean translation edition of Hakubutsu / Le Boudhha Blanc by Japanese writer Tsuji Hitonari. In 1999 Le Boudhha Blanc won the French Literary prize Prix Femina Etranger.
"Sanctuary" has been featured as the cover art for Kelimeler ve Kader, a collection of literary critiques by writer Esra Yalazan.
"Raven Study I and II" were featured on film in 2014 remake of OldBoy.
"Practice of Palmistry" has been featured in print in a book dedicated to the artists Pascale Stauth & Claude Queyrel.
Martha Stewart Living, January of 2012. Features a set of my wooden handmade houses.
The art of creation, whether through drawing, painting, engraving, woodworking, creating graphics for the shop, vectors for my engravings or curating beautiful pieces of nature, is a very huge and important part of who I am. It is how I choose to spend my spare hours when I am not caring for my family. I make, gather and offer here only what I create, truly love, use myself or would want to have in my own home and hope that you may also find something here that you would like to bring into your own space!
